Black Friday 2023

Best Black Friday smartwatch deals to look out for in 2023 (and every ‘Normal Friday’ too)

Updated on November 24, 2023 - As we approach the end of 2023, this signals the beginning of ‘end of year’ sales with Black Friday, Cyber Monday and Christmas sales all in sequence. If you’ve been holding out for a new smartwatch, and were waiting for a good time to strike a deal, then hopefully our guide on our favourite smartwatches in 2023 can help you decide.

Best smartwatches to look out for in Black Friday 2023

Apple Watch Series 8

You may be surprised to see our recommendation for the Apple Watch 8 series rather than the 9 series, but rest assured this is for good reason. To put it simply, the upgrade was really minimal, and with Black Friday, you can expect to see prices really drop for the 8 series more than the 9th generation due to it being older, making this absolutely value for money on Black Friday 2023!

As you can see above, the series 9 is a minor upgrade over the 8th generation with On-device Siri, Double tap gesture control, Siri+Health, and a higher brightness the real noticeable changes.

Apple Watch SE 1

Similar to the argument above, the Apple Watch SE 1st generation is now primed for a fantastic discount with the new Apple Watch SE 2nd generation now on the market. Below is a quick comparison between the two smartwatches which really shows similar specs to each other.

The only significant difference really is the processor in the SE 2 and lightness of the watch. Apparently, the new S8 chip is 20% faster than the S5 chip, but in terms of features they both are exactly the same. It’s hard to vouch that SE 2 is a worthwhile purchase than the SE 1 during Black Friday when they’re both practically the same!

For overall health and fitness enthusiasts, this is a watch worth considering.

Garmin Fenix 5S Plus

When will Black Friday 2023 smartwatch deals start in the UK?

We predict retailers will start their ‘real’ Black Friday deals at the beginning of Black Friday week, although some retailers may ‘cheekily’ start advertising some discounts earlier. However, to be confident over the timing in getting the best deals, we suggest it's best to start comparing prices from the 20th of November.

We've rounded up some early Black Fridays that are advertised already which are worth mentioning (price checked on 24/11/2023):

  • Amazon UK: save 25% on the Samsung Galaxy Watch4 40mm Bluetooth Smart Watch and pay £149 (instead of £199)

  • Currys: save 23% on the Apple Watch SE (2022) - Midnight with Midnight Sports Band, 40 mm and pay £199 (instead of £259)

  • John Lewis: save 21% on the Apple Watch Ultra GPS + Cellular, 49mm Titanium Case with Alpine Loop, Orange strap colour, and pay £669 (instead of £849.99)

  • Very: save 29% on the Garmin Fenix 7 Multisport GPS Watch - Silver with Graphite Band and pay £399 (instead of £559)

Despite some reduced prices that can seem appealing to bite on, however, they're still quite a costly investment and no where near 'as good' as the refurbished deals on Back Market:

*Prices checked on 23/11/2023

You can notice the real savings when you go with refurbished rather than new which ranges from at least 30% to 50% discount (off the cost of new). What's more is that you will always receive 1-year warranty and 30-days to change your mind whenever you buy from Back Market.

Is it worth waiting for Black Friday to get a good smartwatch deal?

Whilst it’s tempting to wait for the best price possible from retailers through Black Friday sales, Back Market offers the lowest prices every single Friday (and every other day), including Black Friday too, because refurbished electronics is the cheapest, and most sustainable way of shopping today! Don’t give yourself anxiety trying to get the smartwatch you want on Black Friday only, but get your smartwatch anytime and at a Black Friday price (or better!) from Back Market.
