This is my first purchase on Back Market, and let me say, I’m pretty disappointed!
The console arrived on time with absolutely no issues from Royal Mail, but that’s pretty much where the positives end.
The protection was minimal. The “bubble wrap” bag wasn’t even sealed, leaving the PS4 loose in transit. The controller was thrown into the same bag as the cables, which is also worrying.
The controller arrived filthy, with grime packed into every crack, and it was visibly marked. I cleaned it myself with a sim ejector tool in under 20 seconds, which tells you how little effort went into the refurbishment. Wiping down a controller before dispatch takes seconds; not doing so is both lazy and unhygienic.
The PS4 ran very hot from the moment it booted, even just sitting on the home screen. I strongly suspect the unit was never opened, dusted, or given fresh thermal paste. A friend’s refurbished PS4 from a different seller is whisper quiet by comparison.
The left joystick is miscalibrated; moving it left registers as top-left, and moving it right registers as bottom-right. Every directional input is pulled diagonally, making it unusable. This should have been caught immediately by any genuine quality check.
I have doubts that any inspection was carried out on this unit. I’d strongly recommend checking seller reviews carefully before buying on Back Market, and I probably won’t be purchasing from seller “musicMagpie” again.
