Unusably abrased trackpad, scratches and wear despite 'excellent condition', cheap materials, broken keys, battery health 75% and 3 hours, unresponsive customer service, frugal company with no compensation, waited 8 days and they returned parcel unrepaired instead explicit 'refund'. Still my money is stuck with them: no refund, no compensation. To any future customers: read on for your benefit. Touchpad Breakdown: Back Market lies to you. Opening Elitebook laptop gave scratches and blemishes across front-cover and stickers, and tangibly deep scratches on trackpad that make it painful to use. Being a previous Elitebook user, I have never seen such a cheap and flimsy coating on any HP laptop or otherwise. Any of these devices will not even last a year so do not bother even investing. Battery Degeneration: They claim a 'minimum 85% battery life'. Do not trust this. I went to Windows Command-Line Shell interface and prompted for battery report, giving 38700/51310mWh. 75%. Active battery life: 2:17hrs. Do this with your purchases, because they will lie. How can you now trust their 'Quality Inspection Check'? Appalling Customer Service: I requested compensation with customer service, hoping assurance for a new battery and an actual proper trackpad. Waiting 2 whole days, they told me to return it for inspection, then repair or refund. No assurance. No response to my request. Time wasted from work contending with customer service. And in that span, the battery and trackpad degraded further, and keys came off irreplaceably. No Compensation: I didn't want anything to do with Back Market now. So I asked them for a refund, and to reconsider fair compensation for a quarter of the full £405 price I paid and regretted doing so. Can you believe it - they gave me a '5% promo code on my next purchase in 30 days' as 'goodwill'. Don't expect just and reasonable action from Back Market. Refund NOT Return: It takes 7 business days to process the refund - more than a week. I had to pack and seal laptop, take pictures from all sides, print and stick written label and also purchase proof, and then drop off to post office. I explicitly said "return and refund" on both messages, with them confirming "bank will return funds" in 7 days two times. Here I am 8 days later, and the laptop arrives back at my house in tight packaging. Refund NOT Return UNREPAIRED: Only yesterday they confirmed a refund from my order within another 3-5 days. Contrary to what said, they give the laptop back to me today, for no reason. After opening the parcel out of necessity, I also find that the laptop is not repaired whatsoever. See photos. The trackpad is scratched, shattered, unrepaired and unreplaced. And all this when I explicitly asked for a REFUND. Unresolved Money: It has been 17 days since ordering this laptop. And £405 of my money is still stuck with them. Worse still is the trauma, stress, frustration, effort and wasted time spent contending with Back Market's dysfunctional products and horrendous customer service. Still waiting for any response for them, without any just compensation and refund.
