iPhone 7 vs iPhone X Comparison

Is the iPhone X a better phone than the iPhone 7?

There’s never a simple answer when it comes to mobile phone comparisons because we all like different things, and have different budgets and priorities. If you’re considering an iPhone 7 or iPhone X and wondering whether the iPhone X is worth the bigger price tag let’s take a look. Remember you can always save money by buying a refurbished phone.

iPhone 7 – a great classic phone

Some might say the iPhone 7 has had its day, it was the fastest phone in the world when it was first released. It has a decent battery that will last you the day, a good 12 MP dual rear camera, and a 7 MP front camera. The iPhone X has the same cameras but they have a few technical advances for better pictures. The iPhone 7 features Apple’s older style design with a home button. A lot of people still like a home button, and Touch ID, which requires a home button, is more reliable than Face ID. It has a 4.7-inch LCD screen and measures 138.3 x 67.1 mm, so it’s just a little smaller than the iPhone X. It’s also around 40 g lighter at 138 g, making it slightly easier to handle than the iPhone X if you have smaller hands.

iPhone X – a lovely large screen and wireless charging

The iPhone X measures 143.6 x 70.9 mm, so it’s only a few millimeters larger than the iPhone 7, but for that size, you get so much more screen, just over an inch in fact as the iPhone X has a 5.8-inch screen. The death of the home button and the edge-to-edge screen design means you get a much better screen-to-size ratio. The screen itself is also more advanced, it has OLED technology, so is sharper, brighter, and more accurate. Other improvements to the iPhone X include 25% louder speakers, wireless charging (although this does mean a glass back – so if you’re a serial phone dropper you might want to steer clear), a faster processor (A11 compared to A10 on the iPhone 7) and a battery that will last around 2 hours longer than the iPhone 7.

Which is better?

Being the newer design, the iPhone X has more to offer in terms of speed, battery life, screen, and all-around tech, but the iPhone 7 still has a lot to offer a basic phone user – especially a clumsy one.

From phones to fridges, you can’t choose wrong.
