For Record Store Day 2026, Back Market enticed dance lovers over to a unique event held in London’s Shoreditch.

For Record Store Day this year, vinyl swapping was the main event. Hosted at Shoreditch hotspot Cafe 1001, the “Wax Exchange” event by Back Market and global dance music platform Keep Hush was designed for dance fans to share rare vinyl and enjoy exclusive DJ sets.

Envisioned as a way to celebrate circularity and sustainability, the Wax Exchange was also about taking some of the elitism out of the vinyl collecting market, with prices skyrocketing over recent iterations of Record Store Day, and therefore pricing many working-class music fans out of their hobby.

“We wanted to tap into a more nostalgic version of vinyl culture, which is about discovery and collection, not just consumption,” explained Freddy Masters, the COO of Keep Hush.  “Our community is full of people with amazing collections, and it made sense to create a space where people could bring records they already own and exchange them for something different.”

He continued: “It’s still that excitement of finding music, but without creating more waste. At the same time, it allowed us to highlight Back Market’s sustainable approach in a very tangible, real-world way.” This event was decked out with refurbished headphones courtesy of Back Market and also a real mix of attendees, from Generation Z to X.

Keep Hush’s Masters concluded: “The day felt like a reminder that music culture doesn’t have to revolve around buying something new.” You can see images from the event below.
