    The Pixel 8 was, as far as I could tell, brand new. The phone itself is excellent and I'm really pleased with it. However there was one problem - it appears to be a Japanese market phone. I found this out when going through the Pixel set up sequence (after first powering up the phone) I noticed the "Warranty" step only listed Japan. There was no way to switch it to the UK. I confirmed this was the case after setting everything up. The downsides seem to be: - I will have no Google UK 1 year warranty (nor the statutory UK 2 year warranty). Not sure what the difference is between the two. - Its not possible to switch off the camera shutter sound (a legal reqt in Japan) However I've decided to keep the phone, as all other functionality seems to be fine and I can live with less warranty cover. Seeing as the phone was sold through Back Market, I assume their 1 year warranty is still valid.
