Xperia 1 III 256GB - Violet - Unlocked

It got off to a lacklustre start, with agonizingly languid start up, and mostly vacant firmware. There is also a tiny glass adhesion imperfection upper on the main screen which I had to fix. I am now otherwise pretty happy with my Xperia 1 III Violet, It started to do just about everything I want with none of the foibles and overheating probs of my original 4G Xperia 1. I will always miss some things that did though, otherwise Sony has come up with a classy product here.

So far so good, turned up in excellent condition, barely any marks on it at all. Great camera and display! Very happy with it. Came with a generic charging cable, I already had an official Sony one so all good.

I had to buy a replacement for my gen 1 at short notice. I was about to buy a gen 4 from Amazon but decided to buy the gen 3 here because it was purple - instant love. The service was fast enough and I got a decent looking device. It was clean, packaged well and looked great. In general everything works and looks fine. Over time, I have noticed two main annoyances. They're not show stoppers, after all, I didn't purchase a brand new device. But this is a review of my experience, so this is my experience. I think the testing of your devices could be a little more thorough. Annoyance 1: The current battery life on this gen 3 is very similar to the current battery life on my gen 1. Given that my gen 1 is a couple of years older, I didn't expect this. But it means either my gen 1 battery is performing very well despite the 2019 release date or the 2021 release of the gen 3 is performing worse than it should. Annoyance 2: I'm still trying to figure out if the touchscreen has small dead spots or if it is intermittently unresponsive/hyperactive. When I'm watching videos (YT or VLC) it very often takes 6 or 8 taps for only 2 of them to register. But in contrast, and this has only happened 3 or 4 times in the span of a month, as I'm scrolling down a list, half the items on the list will magically select itself and other little glitches. And at other times, it's like the phone freezes or maybe the entire touchscreen becomes unresponsive (same experience for me but two different causes - so I don't know which). For the price I paid, either one of these could have been made better. Fortunately, I'm not someone who sits all day using their phone. So it isn't as tedious as it might have been for someone else. But it certainly has made me think that if I am to replace my main phone again in the future, I should just get a brand new one. Otherwise, it's a decent phone. It gets the job done it got me out of a situation.
