The iPod touch (6th generation) was released by Apple in July 2015 and discontinued in May 2019. It was the second-to-last iPod model ever made. Here’s a full description:
Design & Build
Slim, lightweight aluminum body, very similar in design to the iPod touch 5th generation.
4-inch Retina display (1136 × 640 pixels, 326 ppi).
Available in several colors: space gray, silver, gold, pink, blue, and (PRODUCT)RED.
Weighs about 88 grams and is 6.1 mm thick.
Retained the home button (no Touch ID).
Performance
Powered by the Apple A8 chip with 64-bit architecture (same generation as iPhone 6), plus an M8 motion coprocessor.
Much faster than the 5th gen, especially for gaming and apps.
Camera
Rear: 8 MP iSight camera, f/2.4 aperture, 1080p HD video recording at 30fps, slo-mo at 120fps.
Front: 1.2 MP FaceTime HD camera (720p video).
Storage Options
Originally available in 16 GB, 32 GB, 64 GB, and 128 GB capacities.
Software
Shipped with iOS 8.4, upgradable up to iOS 15 (the last iOS version it supports).
Supported most modern apps until around 2023–24, but newer apps are dropping iOS 15 support.
