    I ordered this back in February and didn't immediately post a review as I wanted the opportunity to see how it performed on a day to day basis. Within weeks there were worrying signs appearing regarding technical glitches and peculiarities relating to its performance. These have steadily gotten worse over the course of the last six months to the point where I am now thoroughly dissatisfied with this laptop. Firstly, it runs extremely hot. If you're not simply browsing the internet or using Word, but are running any type of software where more than about 5% of the processing power is required, then the vent on the left hand side becomes so hot that, were it resting on my lap, it would come close to burning my left leg. Also, as soon as it's running anything mildly resource-hungry the volume on the fan increases to the point where it becomes really distracting. The next issue is to do with the mouse and touchpad control. After a couple of hours' use, the cursor develops a mind of its own and suddenly starts jumping and glitching around the screen; not only that, but it often behaves as though the left click fuction is permanently pressed, so that any action that the cursor is hovering on will be selected. This has led to documents being closed when the cursor accidentally passes over the 'X' button resulting in a loss of work or progress on projects. When the cursor issues start taking place, it also seems to throw the priorities of a number of other processes into dissaray as well, including the positioning of windows. This means that certain programs or apps cannot be set to full screen without other currently running apps or programs being closed down completely, lest they randomly shoot straight to the front of the order and refuse to me minimised to the taskbar. The only way I've found to rectify these issues is to shut down the laptop for a few minutes to allow things to settle, then turn it back on again. This solution is wildly impractical if it starts to happen during a video conference or when you have a particular project rendering for numerous hours. Given the fact that, at times, these issues are happening every couple of hours, leading potentially to having to restart it up to 4/5 times in a working day, I would say that this laptop was not worth anywhere near the money I paid for it. My old laptop, though posessed of much less advertised processing power and RAM, functioned without any of the ghosts in the machine from which this laptop seems to suffer. I'm extremely dissapointed with this purchase and/or the quality of the reconditioning process through which these machines make their way onto their site and would seriously question whether or not to use BackMarket for laptop purchases in the future.

    Decided to buy from BackMarket again as I was so impressed with the Sony phone I bought a few years ago. Great laptop, quite a high spec for a little over £400. More than a 'micro-scratch visible from 20cms away' on the top, which would have been a disappointment if I'd splashed out on a Mac, but I didn't, I bought a low-cost tool, so I can live with it. Lovely keyboard, good enough screen, and it's easy to upgrade to 32Gb of RAM. Would buy again from these guys.
