    Having heard fantastic things about BackMarket through friends who have purchased using this platform, my son decided to purchase a refurbished iPhone 14. We chose 'good' quality, meaning a FLAWLESS screen. Seeing the 'verified refurbished' explanation and the 12 month warantee put our minds at ease. All went well and we received the phone sooner than anticipated, what a bonus! Then it all went wrong. The screen had a 6mm scratch, visible and easy to feel. This was NOT as described or what we paid for. Instead of an immediate offer to replace it for what we paid for or better, or offering to at least put in a new screen, we had so many delays with customer service, there was no phone number and no 'instant' chat. Answers sometimes took 24 - 36 hours to come through. There seems to be no desire to make the seller pay for their mistake, all we got offered was a paltry £15 in compensation. We were told that Back Market were able to refund, exchange or compensate, but were warned that the exchange option was only available if the seller had similar items in stock, at no point did they say that the seller would be obligated to replace the screen to match the 'good' condition it was sold as. Sadly, my son didn't have time to go through the whole process as the discussion to get to this point took 4 working days, so he's gone for the ridiculous compensation amount. Beware, buyers, it seems to heavily depend on the seller and potluck.
