My 4th phone with Backmarket. Others have been great but this one had a battery which drained in 4 hours. I returned it for a new one but funnily enough the supplier says they don't have any. They will likely try and resell this one to another customer. In the meantime the price has risen so I have to pay more for another go. Not quite free returns then. Took about a week to have it confirmed the retailer would not replace the item with like for like (10 days from sending it back). Back market is fine but I expect certain suppliers are to be avoided and in this instance Backmarket should refund the difference for me to purchase the same model.

Delivery and physical quality good. Zero state of charge a bit unusual - how does that happen? Software condition not good. I expect freshly factory reset at the welcome screen. That's what I've always had buying reconditioned from Giffgaff. But this device was in some unknown post-setup state. I didn't investigate and certainly didn't connect to any network as it could have been tampered, did my own factory reset. This uncovered that the base language was Korean. Easily changed at the welcome screen of course, though I did have to manually remove the Korean keyboard. I then had to do the tiresome updates to bring it from Android 11 to latest 13 before I could trust the software. I tried Giffgaff this time but they didn't have stock. I'll try them first next time as well.

Backmarket supplied a phone which would not charge on 12 June. Using the return label supplied it was sent back on 13 June and received by the seller on 15 June. I asked for an update on 19 June. Backmarket issued an entirely new return label and had to be told that the item has already been returned. They claimed on 20 June the item had been receieved by the seller that day. They were provided with tracking information showing accurate details. I sought another update on 26 June. They informed me they"have sent a final reminder to the seller requesting an active tracking number today. If we do not receive an update by the end of the day, I will proceed with refunding your money." I sought another update on 28 June. They told me they cannot find a record of the return label I used on 13 June. I provided them with the label they had sent and which I had used. On 01 July they informed me they were " checking your case with the corresponding department and will get back to you as soon as I have the answers that I'm looking for". It is 03 July. They have had my money since 09 June, they have had their defective returned phone since 15 June, they have had proof of this since 19 June, I have no phone and their communication about this is appalling.

The item that arrived was not the correct item. It was the same model but in worse condition and the wrong colour. I was offered £10 to keep the phone which is worth significantly less than the I paid for. The returns process is long and drawn out and is leaving me without a phone for an extended time. I had to take time off of work to meet the original delivery slot. I have lost out on many accounts and there has been 0 effort to make any compensation
